New Orleans-based chef Tunde Wey and Tré Hardin, public art and placemaking coordinator for Metro Arts, discuss Build Better Tables, a temporary public-art exhibition focusing on food issues to examine urban development and understand the effects of gentrification on community health and wellness.
Part of Build Better Tables, Wey's H*t Chicken Sh**t is a pop-up restaurant selling Nigerian-style hot chicken in exchange for property or cash, which is used to purchase or rehab property. All proceeds go toward creating permanently affordable housing.
